Vegan Chocolate Giveaway and Information Stall - Sunrise Celebration Festival in Somerset

We were invited to run a campaigns stall at the Sunrise Celebration Festival in Somerset this weekend. Local groups in Somerset were busy with the Bristol Vegan Fayre, so we took the excuse to camp for a few days and run a stall.

It wasn't quite what we had expected. Due to flash floods on the Thursday evening, the festival was officially cancelled because emergency vehicles could not access the site. However, many festival goers decided to stay on site while the food lasted until Saturday. Some performers also braved the mud too. Still, we managed to have a lot of fun, and do some veganising too!

We asked veggie and vegan food stall holders to put vegan leaflets on their stalls, and handed out quite a few leaflets to the festival participants. We also gave out a container of vegan date slices to the welfare tent, who had kindly been giving out free tea and coffee to people during the flash floods. Of course, we made sure everyone who took a date slice also took a why vegan? leaflet!

We did a stall on the Friday afternoon with chocolate samples and our normal literature and merchandise. Despite people having to wade through to the stall in shin high mud, people came over and were very interested to hear about veganism. There were quite a few very open minded people and people who had been trying for a while to be vegan. We hope that some of the leaflets given out and conversations we had may have been the last straw for a few.

If you would like to help out at future stalls or have advice on setting up vegan stalls in your area, please contact us.
